Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Battery Disconnect Warning).

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
Warning: Refer to SIR Warning (SIR Warning).

2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) in SIR.
3. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).
4. Remove the lumbar support knob assembly. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement (Lumbar Support Knob Replacement).
5. Remove the seat-back assembly. Refer to Front Seat Back Replacement (Front Seat Back Replacement).
6. Remove the head restraints. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Replacement).
7. Remove the seat back trim. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement (Front Seat Back Trim Replacement).
8. Remove the head restraint guides. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement).




9. Disengage the J-strips away from the seat frame and the velcro tab at each lower corner.
10. Lift the cover and pad assembly up and away from the seat-back frame, manoeuvreing it over the front seat dummy block insert assemblies.
11. Place pad and cover assembly on a clean and suitable work surface.




12. Detach the two securing hooks (1) located on the right hand side of the back.




13. Fold the lower corners of the seat cushion cover (1) over the seat cushion pad (2).




14. While holding the front seat cushion pad (1) pull the rear corners of the front seat cushion cover (2) forward and away from the pad to disengage the hook and loop strips (3).
15. Pull the cover up and over the forward edge of the pad.
16. Remove the seat cushion cover.

Installation Procedure




1. With the front seat-back cover (1) folded at the central horizontal strip of the hook and loop (2), align the centre mark (4) on the front seat-back pad.
2. Press the cover in the corresponding groove in the pad to engage the hook and loop.




3. With the cover folded at the two vertical strips of the hook and loop, press the cover firmly into the corresponding grooves in the pad.




4. Roll the upper corners of the seat cover over the pad.
5. Roll the sides of the seat cover over the pad.
6. Roll the lower corners of the seat cover over the pad.
7. Firmly run your finger in the seat cushion channels, to ensure a correct fitting.
8. Install the cover and pad assembly over from the seat-back frame, manoeuvreing it over the front seat dummy block insert assemblies.




9. Engage the J-strips onto the seat frame and the velcro tab at each lower corner.
10. Install the head restraint guides. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement).
11. Install the seat back trim. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement (Front Seat Back Trim Replacement).
12. Install the head restraints. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Replacement).
13. Install the seat-back assembly. Refer to Front Seat Back Replacement (Front Seat Back Replacement).
14. Install the lumbar support knob assembly. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement (Lumbar Support Knob Replacement).
15. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).
Warning: Refer to SIR Warning (SIR Warning).

16. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) in SIR.
17. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
18. Test the seat for correct mechanical and electrical operation.
