Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side

EN 46101 Spark Plug Tube Plugs
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the engine covers. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the upper intake manifold with the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair).
Note: Use a suitable tool to slide the connector retaining latch (4) in the direction of the arrow.
3. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors (3).
Note: Use a suitable tool to detach the wiring harness (1) clips from the camshaft cover (2).
4. Remove the wiring harness (1) from the camshaft cover (2).
Note: It is not necessary to disconnect the engine front cover electrical connectors.
Note: Use a suitable tool to detach the wiring harness (1) clip from the camshaft cover (2), then lift the wiring harness (1) upwards to detach from the camshaft cover (2).
5. Remove the wiring harness (1) from the front of the camshaft cover (2).
6. Reposition and secure the wiring harness (1) away from the camshaft cover (2) in order to provide clearance for removal of the camshaft cover (2).
7. Remove the ignition coil to camshaft cover retaining bolts (1).
8. Remove the ignition coils (2) from the camshaft cover (3).
9. Remove the camshaft cover to cylinder head retaining bolts (1).
10. Remove the camshaft cover (2) from the cylinder head (3).
11. Remove and discard the camshaft cover seal and grommets.
12. Install the EN-46101 (1) to the spark plug tubes to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the cylinders.
Installation Procedure
Note: Make sure the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head and camshaft cover are clean.
1. Place a 3mm bead of RTV sealant (1) on the join line between the engine front cover and the cylinder head.
2. Install a NEW camshaft cover seal and NEW grommets.
3. Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Installation - Right Side (Overhaul).
4. Remove the EN-46101 (1).
5. Install the ignition coils (2) to the camshaft cover (3).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
6. Install the ignition coil using the camshaft cover retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
Note: Make sure the wiring harness (1) is located on the camshaft cover (2) locating lugs and the clips are engaged.
7. Install the wiring harness (1) to the front of the camshaft cover (2).
Note: Make sure the wiring harness (1) is located on the camshaft cover (2) locating lugs and the clips are engaged.
8. Install the wiring harness (1) to the camshaft cover (2).
Note: Slide the connector retaining latch (4) in the opposite direction of the arrow.
9. Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors (1).
10. Install the upper intake manifold with the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Install the engine covers. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
