Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal and Housing Installation

Special Tools
* EN 46109 - Guide Pin Set
* EN 47839 - Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installation Tool
* J 42183 - Handle
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (Special Tools).




1. Install the 6 mm (0.236 in) guides from the EN 46109 - guide pin set (1) into the 2 crankshaft rear oil seal housing corner bolt holes of the cylinder block (2).




2. Install the J 42183 - handle (1) with the EN 47839 - installation tool (2) onto the rear of the crankshaft flange.




3. Place a 3 mm (0.118 in) bead of RTV sealant (1) to the NEW crankshaft rear oil seal housing as shown.





Note: DO NOT allow any engine oil on the area where the crankshaft rear oil seal housing is to be installed.

4. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal housing (1) to the cylinder block (2).




5. Remove the EN 46109 - guide pin set mm (0.236 in) guides (1) from the cylinder block (2).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

6. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal housing to cylinder block retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




7. Remove the J 42183 - handle (1) and EN 47839 - installation tool (2) from the crankshaft flange.
