Heater Hose Assembly Replacement (Lower)

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (3.6 L) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (6.0 L) (Service and Repair).





Note: Mark the position of heater hoses (3) and heater hose retaining clamps (1) before removal to make sure of correct alignment during assembly.

3. Using J 38185 compress the heater hose retaining clamps (1) and slide along the heater hoses (3).
4. Disconnect the heater hoses (3) from the water pump housing (2).





Note: Using a suitable tool, detach the lower heater hose (3) by releasing the heater hose quick connect fitting retaining clip (2).

5. Detach the lower heater hose (3) from the heater hose quick connect fitting (2).
6. Remove the lower heater hose (3).

Installation Procedure





Note: Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

1. Connect the lower heater hose (3) to the heater hose quick connect fitting (2).





Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution (Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution).

Note: If reusing the heater hoses (3), align the heater hoses (3) with the marks made on the water pump housing (2) during the removal procedure.

2. Connect the heater hoses (3) to the water pump housing (2).
3. Using J 38185 slide the heater hose retaining clamps (1) back into the original position on the heater hoses (3).
4. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (3.6 L) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (6.0 L) (Service and Repair).
5. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
