Heater Outlet Hose Replacement

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (3.6 L) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (6.0 L) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).





Note: Mark the position of the heater outlet hose (1) and the heater outlet hose retaining clamp (2) before removal to make sure of correct alignment during assembly.

3. Using J 38185 compress the heater outlet hose retaining clamp (2) and slide along the heater outlet hose (1).
4. Disconnect the heater outlet hose (1) from the heater core outlet pipe (3).





Note: Using a suitable tool, detach the heater outlet hose (1) by releasing the heater outlet hose quick connect fitting retaining clip (3).

5. Detach the heater outlet hose (1) from the heater outlet pipe quick connect fitting (2).

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution (Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution).

Note: If reusing the heater outlet hose (1), align the heater outlet hose (1) with the marks made on the heater core outlet pipe (3) during the removal procedure.

1. Connect the heater outlet hose (1) to the heater core outlet pipe (3).
2. Using J 38185 slide the heater outlet hose retaining clamp (2) back into the original position on the heater outlet hose (1).





Note: Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

3. Connect the heater outlet hose (1) to the heater outlet pipe (2).
4. Refit the right side engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (3.6 L) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (6.0 L) (Service and Repair).
