Oil Filter: Service and Repair




Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Turn the ignition OFF.





Note: Use a six-point socket to remove the oil filter cap (1).

2. Remove the oil filter adapter cap (1) from the engine oil filter adapter (3).

Note: The oil filter cartridge (2) must be replaced at every service interval.

3. Remove the oil filter cartridge (2).
Discard the oil filter cartridge (2).
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




5. Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug (1).
6. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) from the oil pan (2).
7. Allow the oil to drain completely.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the oil pan drain plug (1) to the oil pan (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
2. Lower the vehicle.




3. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.




4. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2).

Note: Use a six-point socket to install the oil filter cap.

5. Install the oil filter cap (1) to the engine oil filter adapter (3) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
6. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations and Approximate Fluid Capacities (Service Intervals).
7. Reset the service reminder display. Refer to Service Display Reminders, Service and Repair
