Evaporative Emission Hoses/Pipes Replacement - Chassis/Canister

Removal Procedure

* Do not attempt to repair sections of nylon pipes. Replace damaged nylon pipes.
* Replace the vapor hoses/pipes with original equipment or parts that meet original specifications.

Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.


Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the rear frame. Refer to Rear Frame Replacement (Rear Frame Replacement).
3. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Service and Repair).




4. Disconnect the canister purge pipe (1) from the canister.
5. Remove the canister vent pipe (3) from the canister by twisting and pulling it away from the canister.
6. Remove the canister to under body retaining bolts (2).
7. Remove the evaporative emission canister from the vehicle.
8. Remove the EVAP hose from the fuel tank.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the EVAP hose to the fuel tank.
2. Install the chassis to canister EVAP hose to the following:

* The body retainer (1)
* The 3 retaining features (2) on the fuel tank
* The retainer clip (3)

3. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the rear frame. Refer to Rear Frame Replacement (Rear Frame Replacement).
5. Lower the vehicle.
