Cylinder Head Assembly





Cylinder Head Bolt - M8 - First Pass 15 Nm (10 lb ft)
Cylinder Head Bolt - M8 - Final Pass 60 Degrees
Cylinder Head Bolt - M11 - First Pass 45 Nm (33 lb ft)
Cylinder Head Bolt - M11 - Second Pass Counter Clockwise 120 degrees
Cylinder Head Bolt - M11 - Third Pass 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
Cylinder Head Bolt - M11 - Final Pass 150 degrees

Bolt Re-usability DO NOT reuse the old M11 cylinder head bolts





Surface Variation - Head to Block - Head to Manifolds - Warpage
Place a straight-edge (2) diagonally across the cylinder head (1) deck face surface.
Measure the clearance between the straight-edge (2) and the cylinder head (1) deck face using a feeler gage at 4 points along the straight-edge (2).
If the warpage is less than 0.05 mm (0.002 in), the cylinder head (1) deck surface does not require resurfacing.
If the warpage is between 0.05-0.20 mm (0.002-0.008 in) or any imperfections or scratches that may inhibit correct cylinder head gasket sealing are
present, the cylinder head (1) deck surface requires resurfacing.
If resurfacing is required the maximum amount that can be removed is 0.25 mm (0.010 in).
If the cylinder head (1) deck surface requires more than 0.25 mm (0.010 in) material removal the cylinder head (1) must be replaced.

Intake Manifold sequence: Tighten the intake manifold bolts (1) in a circular pattern starting at the center (long bolts) and moving outward.
Intake Manifold - Upper-to-Cylinder Head Bolt - Long 23 Nm (17 lb ft)
Intake Manifold - Upper-to-Cylinder Head Bolt - Short 23 Nm (17 lb ft)
Intake Manifold - Upper-to-Lower Intake Manifold Bolt 23 Nm (17 lb ft)

Right Exhaust Manifold
Exhaust Manifold sequence: Tighten the exhaust manifold to cylinder head retaining bolts (1) working from the center to the outside
Exhaust Manifold - Bolt 20 Nm (15 lb ft)


Left Exhaust Manifold
Exhaust Manifold sequence: Tighten the exhaust manifold to cylinder head retaining bolts (1) working from the center to the outside
Exhaust Manifold - Bolt 20 Nm (15 lb ft)




Right Side Camshaft
Camshaft bearing cap to cylinder head retaining bolts 10 Nm (89 lb in)




Left Side Camshaft
Camshaft bearing cap to cylinder head retaining bolts 10 Nm (89 lb in)
