Shift Control Linkage Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Place the selector lever in PARK.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the nut from the shift control linkage rod.
4. Disconnect the shift control linkage rod from the shift control.
5. Remove the shift selector linkage rod to shift selector shaft retaining nut (3).
6. Remove the shift selector linkage rod (1) from the shift selector shaft (2).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the shift selector linkage rod (1) to the shift selector shaft (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install the shift selector linkage rod to shift selector shaft retaining nut (3) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
3. Connect the shift control linkage rod to the shift control assembly.
4. Install the nut to the shift control linkage rod.
5. Adjust the shift control linkage. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment (5L40-E/5L50-E - Automatic Transmission).
6. Lower the vehicle.
