INFORMATIONBulletin No.: 08-08-67-017
Date: October 29, 2008
Subject:
Revision to Sunroof Switch Operation
Models:
2009 Pontiac G8
Built After September 21, 2008
Attention:
This bulletin is being issued to assist in explaining the proper operation of the sunroof control. Please make sure that this bulletin is distributed to the Sales Manager, Service Manager and the New Car Prep Delivery personnel. You are also encouraged to give a copy of this bulletin to your customer.
Vehicles with a build date later than September 21, 2008 feature revised operation of the sunroof switch. This revision requires the switch to be pressed and held while the sunroof is opening or closing. The sunroof on previous 2008 and early 2009 models moved to the selected position without the need to press and hold the switch. The switch appearance is unchanged.
The purpose of this bulletin is to advise that the Owner Manual supplied with vehicles built during September and October may not show the requirement to press and hold the switch. To avoid customer confusion, please advise that as well as selecting the desired tilt / open or close position, the switch must be pressed and held to enable the sunroof to be opened or closed.
Note:
The sunroof motor / module assemblies available for service have been updated to perform as current build 2009 vehicles. If you replace the sunroof motor / module assembly in a past model G8, you should instruct the customer that the sunroof switch functionality may change to require holding the switch in when moving the sunroof glass. You may give a copy of this bulletin to the customer to explain the difference in control operation.
Owner Manuals will be updated to show the revised operation beginning with November built vehicles. Until that time please refer customers to the operational procedure below.
Sunroof Operation
The sunroof control is located between the sun visors. It works when the ignition is in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY. The sunroof will not operate after the engine is turned off.
The sunroof control functions as a knob which may be turned or pushed inward when grasping the control.
From the closed position, TURN the control clockwise to one of the six open positions. PRESS and HOLD the knob inwards until the sunroof stops moving. The sunshade opens with the sunroof automatically.
Tilt the sunroof by turning the control counterclockwise. PRESS and HOLD the knob inwards until the sunroof stops moving.
Note:
The sunroof will not move to the selected position or tilt position unless the switch is pressed and held. Once released, the sunroof will not operate. Press again to continue to a selected position.
