Thermostat: Service and Repair




Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (6.0L)

Removal Procedure

Note: The thermostat and thermostat housing are serviced as a complete assembly, they should only be separated if back flush is to be carried out.

1. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Place thermostat housing in a soft jaw vice.




Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

3. Press and rotate the springs of the thermostat to release it from the thermostat housing.
4. Remove the thermostat from the thermostat housing.

Installation Procedure




1. Assure that the air bleed ball (1) is not jammed by slightly shaking the assembly.




2. Place the thermostat (1) assembly into the thermostat housing (2).
3. Install the thermostat by rotating and locking it into the thermostat housing.
