2. Engine Wiring Harness Assembly Removal

ENGINE WIRING HARNESS ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

Note: Steps 1 to 3 refer to the 6L80E 4 speed automatic transmission only.





1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector (1).

2. Detach the engine wiring loom assembly (2) from the retaining clip (3).

3. Disconnect the main transmission electrical connector (4).

Note: Steps 4 and 5 refer to the T56 6 speed manual transmission only.





4. Detach the engine wiring loom assembly (2) from the retaining clip (1).

5. Disconnect the reverse switch assembly electrical connector (3).





6. Remove the starter motor heat shield to starter motor retaining bolts (1).

7. Remove the heat shield from the vehicle (2).





8. Disconnect the starter motor solenoid electrical connector (1).

9. Remove battery positive cable retaining nut (2) from the starter motor.





10. Remove starter motor to bell housing retaining bolts (1).

11. Remove the starter motor (2).





12. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector (1).





13. Disconnect the oil level/temperature sensor electrical connector (2).

14. Disconnect the right side knock sensor electrical connector (1).





15. Disconnect the right side fuel injector wiring harness connectors (1).

16. Remove the CPA lock (7) from the right side ignition coil main connector (6).

17. Disconnect the right side ignition coil main connector (6).

18. Disconnect the canister purge valve (5) wiring harness connector.

19. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor wiring harness connector (3).

20. Reposition and secure the right side fuel injector wiring harness (4) away from the intake manifold (2).





21. Remove the vehicle body ground cable to cylinder head retaining nut (1).

22. Remove the vehicle body ground cable (3) from the cylinder head stud (2).





23. Remove the cylinder head stud (3) from the cylinder head (2) and secure the wiring harness ground (1) away from the cylinder head (2).





24. Disconnect the A/C electrical connector (1).





25. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor (1).





26. Disconnect the electronic throttle body wiring harness connector (1).





Note: The locking tang on the power steering reservoir bracket (1) must be released before removing the power steering reservoir (2).

27. Remove the power steering reservoir (2) from the power steering pump power steering reservoir bracket (1) and position the power steering reservoir (2) aside.





28. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector (4).

29. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector (3).

30. Detach the wiring harness retaining clip (2) from the engine lifting bracket (1).





Note: Press the retainer tabs to remove electrical connector.

31. Disconnect the alternator electrical connector (1).





32. Disconnect the left side fuel injector wiring harness connectors (2).

33. Remove the CPA lock (4) from the left side ignition coil main connector (3).

34. Disconnect the left side ignition coil main connector (3).

35. Reposition and secure the left side fuel injector wiring harness (5) away from the intake manifold (1).





36. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector (1).

37. Detach the wiring harness assembly retaining clip (2) from the left side cylinder head (4).

38. Remove the wiring harness assembly earth to cylinder head retaining bolt (3)
