Bulletin No.: 08-08-45-001D

Date: April 07, 2009

Subject:
Fuel Filler Door Will Not Open, Radio, OnStar(R), Interior Lights and Remote Lock/Unlock Inoperative During Disconnect - Battery Logistics Connector MUST Be Reconnected After Shipping or New Car Storage

Models:
2008-2009 Pontiac G8

Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to include an Important Statement at the beginning of the procedure. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-08-45-001C (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).

Important
DO NOT PRY OPEN THE FUEL FILLER DOOR when attempting to add fuel to the vehicle. While the logistics connector is disconnected, the fuel filler door will not open, unless the door lock/unlock button that is located in the center console of the vehicle is depressed in order to unlock all four doors. When all four doors are unlocked, firmly depressing the fuel filler door will release it and allow it to open.

The Pontiac G8 has a logistics connector to isolate certain circuits which may contribute to battery drain while the vehicle is in transit. This connector (blue in color) is located over the battery, which is in the left rear quarter panel behind an access door in the trunk trim.

The logistics disconnect disables the following functions:

- The key fob remote Lock/Unlock function, which also locks/unlocks the fuel filler door simultaneously

- Radio

- HVAC

- Supplemental Instrument Clusters in IP Center Stack Area

- IP Cluster

- OnStar(R)

None of these will function while the connector is disconnected. However, the vehicle will start and be driveable.

Prior to performing the New Vehicle PDI Inspection, dealerships need to connect the logistics connector to verify full electrical function. The connector may be disconnected for vehicle storage to help preserve battery state of charge. Be sure to reconnect this connector prior to delivery to the customer.

Connecting Logistics Connector After Shipping/Storage

1. Turn OFF all electrical components and accessories before continuing with this procedure.

2. Turn OFF the ignition, and allow all of the control modules to power down.

3. Turn OFF any scan tool that may be connected at this time, as the ECM will attempt to continue to communicate with it.

4. Remove the rear trim panel in the trunk.

Logistics Connector (Blue)

Important
It is critical that the two parts of the connector are fully assembled until a "click" is heard. Pull with light pressure to confirm that the two connectors are fully connected and cannot be separated easily.

5. Connect the two mating connectors to energize the affected circuits.

Important
The entire electrical system must not be operational during the mating of the battery logistics connector or DTC P0650 may set.

6. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle and clear DTC P0650, if present.
