Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment

1. Bounce the vehicle several times to settle the suspension.

Important: The toe of the front wheels must be checked with the wheels in the straight ahead position.


2. Set the wheels and steering gear to the straight ahead position.




3. Disconnect the outer steering gear boot to tie rod retaining clip (1).
4. Loosen the tie rod end to tie rod locking nut (2).
5. Determine the actual front wheel toe setting.
6. Adjust the front wheel toe to specification by turning the tie rod (3). For front wheel toe specifications, Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications (Specifications).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Important: Do not allow the tie rod (3) to turn while tightening the tie rod end to tie rod locking nut (2).


7. Tighten the tie rod end to tie rod lock nut (2)

Tighten the nut to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).

8. Verify that the toe is still within specifications. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications (Specifications).
9. If further adjustment is required, adjust as necessary.
