MVA 4 Speed - Automatic Transmission

DTC P0982 or P0983

Circuit Description

Shifting from 1st to 4th (O/D) is performed in combination with "ON" and "OFF" operation of the shift solenoid valves SL1 and SL2 which is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). If an open or short circuit occurs in either of the shift solenoid valves, the ECM controls the remaining normal shift solenoid valve to allow the vehicle to be operated smoothly (fail safe function). The ECM will illuminate the MIL and store the DTC.

* The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminates the first time the diagnostic runs with the fault active.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

The DTC will clear when conditions for setting the DTC have been repaired.
