Information on 1.8L LAY Engine When Changing Oil Filter - Care Must Be Taken With O-Ring Placement on Oil Filter Cap

Models:
2009 Pontiac Vibe

with 1.8L SIDI Four-Cylinder Engine (VIN 8 - RPO LAY)

This bulletin is being revised to correct the engine type. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-06-01-021 (Section 06 - Engine).





Caution:
Do not reuse the oil filter cap O-ring (1).

Care must be taken when changing the oil filter to ensure that the oil filter cap O-ring (1) is properly seated. An improperly seated O-ring could cause an oil leak with the potential to spray oil on the rear of the engine.

Be sure to remove the O-ring (1) for the cap by hand. Do not use any tools. This will prevent damage to the O-ring groove on the oil filter cap.
