Rear Output Shaft Seal Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Using a suitable puller (1), remove the transfer case rear oil seal from the transfer extension housing sub-assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Using a suitable installer (1), install a new transfer case rear oil seal into the transfer extension housing sub-assembly to the position shown.

Drive in depth: 1.1-1.9 mm (0.0433-0.0748 in)

2. Apply a small amount of MP grease to the lip of the oil seal.
3. Install the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Inspect and adjust transfer case fluid.
