Preliminary work

Preliminary work for removing and installing intake manifold

1. Remove front trim (engine compartment). -> 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment)
2. Remove air cleaner housing. -> 242519 Removing and installing air cleaner housing Service and Repair
3. Remove pressure pipe.

Intake manifold

1. Loosen hose clamp -1- and pull off hose for recirculating air valve -2-.

NOTICE

Sheared-off sealing grommet on turbocharger intake pipe

- Risk of damage to turbocharger

-> A previously used intake pipe must not be re-used
-> Replace intake pipe and sealing grommet
-> Replace hose clamp
-> Coat area around sealing grommet on new intake pipe with water during fitting

2. Loosen hose clamp -3- and remove intake manifold -4-.
Dispose of intake manifold and hose clamp.

NOTICE

Sheared-off sealing grommet on turbocharger intake pipe

- Risk of damage to turbocharger

-> A previously used intake pipe must not be re-used
-> Replace intake pipe and sealing grommet
-> Replace hose clamp
-> Coat area around sealing grommet on new intake pipe with water during fitting

1. Install new intake manifold -4- with a new sealing grommet
Observe marking for correct installation position => Installation position of intake manifold

2. Fit and tighten new hose clamp -3-.=> Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm (4 ftlb.)
3. Fit hose for recirculating air valve -2- and tighten hose clamp -1-.

Subsequent work

1. Install pressure pipe.
2. Install air cleaner housing. -> 242519 Removing and installing air cleaner housing Service and Repair
3. Install front trim (engine compartment). -> 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment)
