INCORRECT METRIC TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Information

Although the foot-pound torque specifications in the M.R. 177 manual are correct, the metric (N-m) torque specifications are incorrect.

The metric torques in the manual are actually expressed in deca-newton meters and not the standard newton meters indicated.

To determine the correct newton meter torque, simply multiply the stated N-m torque by 10. For example, the connecting rod nut torque stated on page B-31 is 4.5 N-m. Multiplied by 10, this equals 45 N-m which is the correct newton meter torque.

When referring to the M.R. 177 manual for torque specifications, use the following cross reference torque charts as an aid in determining N-m torque values.

Filing Instructions

Record this I.S. Note on the first page of chapters B through R and file it in your M.R. 177 binder.
