Replacing Micro Switch - Windshield Frame

SUBJECT # 1:
REPLACING MICROSWITCH AT WINDSHIELD FRAME

APPLICATION:
VIN SERIAL NOS. S7000216-S7016595

Remove the existing microswitches from the windshield frame and fit P/N 46 95 979 instead.

To avoid duplication, this can be done in conjunction with Subject # 2. Replacing Windshield Frame Weather Seal.




Figures 2A, B, C, D, E, F

1. Lower the top completely using the "ROOF" switch. Lower all windows.

2. Remove the sunvisors and sunvisor supports. See Figure 2.A.

3. Partially remove the windshield frame weather seal to expose the screws securing the upper part of the wind. shield frame cover. See Figure 2.B. Do not remove the weatherseal completely unless this vehicle is In the

VIN range requiring Subject # 2.

4. Remove the screws. See Figure 2.C.

5. Pull down the lower part of the windshield frame cover slightly and remove the screws securing the latch fittings. See Figure 2-D.

6. Unplug the connectors and lift off the latch fittings. See Figure 2.E.

7. Remove the screws securing the microswitches and lift them away. Scrap the old microswitches. See Figure 2.F.

8. Fit the new microswitches in place on the latch fitting and carefully tighten the screws.

NOTE:
The wiring harness for both microswitches should face to the right (passenger) side of the car.

Maximum tightening torque: 1 Nm (9 in.lbs.).

9. Fit the latch fittings to the windshield frame and tighten the screws.

10. Plug in the connectors. reinstall tie straps on connectors to avoid rattles.

11. Align the upper part of the windshield frame cover with the lower part and then tighten the screws securing the upper part. NOTE: If the vehicle falls within VIN range for Subject # 2. perform it now.

12. Refit the windshield frames weather seal.

13. Refit the sunvisors and sunvisor supports. rewrap sunvisor connectors with anti-rattle tape.
