Removal
NOTE: Step numbers below refer to numbers used in the illustrations.
1. Drape protective covers over the fenders and drain off the coolant.
2. Remove the rubber duct for the mass air flow sensor.
3. Remove the engine covers.
4. Remove the intake manifold and lift it up. Plug the holes with paper.
- Then remove the following:
- The hose from the fuel pressure regulator
- The vacuum hose from the solenoid valve (Sweden)
- The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector
- The Traction Control System (TCS) throttle body connector
- The throttle connector
- The coolant hoses from the throttle body
- The hose from the EVAP canister purge valve.
- Lift away the intake manifold.
5. Remove the fuel lines and plug the connections.
6. Remove the screws securing the centre intake manifold complete with fuel rail and lay it aside.
7. Remove the gasket to gain access to all the retaining bolts for the lower section of the intake manifold.
- Remove the lower section and plug with paper.
8. Unplug the electric connectors, disconnect the radiator hose and remove the coolant bridge.
9. Remove the ignition coil and disconnect the high tension leads.
- Remove the bracket for the ignition colt, camshaft position sensor and oxygen sensor connection.
- Lay the bracket aside.
10. Raise the car and remove the oil filter.
11. Undo the nuts for the oil cooler pipes at the oil filter.
12. Lower the car to the floor and remove the pipes at the heat exchanger.
13. Remove the two heat exchanger retaining nuts.
14. Remove the cover and lift out the heat exchanger.
