Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution (Brake Dust Caution).

Removal Procedure




1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Inspect the brake caliper assembly. Refer to Brake Caliper Inspection (Testing and Inspection).

Notice: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

4. Remove the rear brake caliper assembly, relocate the brake caliper to the side. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Replacement).
5. Inspect the brake pads. Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection (Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection).




6. Remove the front brake pads from the mounting bracket.
7. Inspect the brake hardware. Refer to Front Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection (Front Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection).




8. Remove the brake pad retaining clips from the mounting bracket.




9. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket retaining bolts.




10. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket.




11. Remove the guide pin seals from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
12. Inspect the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection (Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the guide pin seals on the mounting bracket.
2. If the guide pins and brake pad retaining clips are to be reused, use denatured alcohol to clean them.
3. Dry the brake guide pins and brake pad retaining clips with non-lubricated, filtered air.




4. Apply high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pins. DO NOT apply the lubricant to the brake pad retaining clips.




5. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

6. Install the caliper mounting bracket bolts.

Tighten the caliper mounting bracket bolts to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.).




7. Install the rear brake pad hardware to the brake caliper mounting bracket.




8. Install the brake pads to the brake caliper mounting bracket.




9. Install the rear brake caliper assembly. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Replacement).
10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
11. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
Caution: Refer to Firm Brake Pedal Caution.
12. Pump the brake pedal slowly and firmly in order to seat the brake pads.
