Muffler Hanger


Removal

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED PRIOR TO LIFTING. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. MAKE SURE HOIST DOES NOT CONTACT FUEL OR BRAKE LINES.





1. Raise vehicle squarely on a lift.
2. Remove muffler to muffler hanger bracket screw.
3. Remove muffler hanger.

Installation





1. Install muffler hanger into muffler hanger bracket.
2. Tighten muffler hanger screw.
Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)

IMPORTANT: Make sure that after installing the muffler hanger that the system has not shifted rearward allowing contact between the hanger bracket screw O and the hanger block. This will cause noise; loosen the muffler strap and shift forward on muffler to eliminate contact -retighten.





3. If muffler strap need to be relocated per important above tighten:
Torque: 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.)






Isolators
There are (3) rubber isolator blocks that support the exhaust system ahead of the muffler. These isolator blocks are installed on wire rods that are welded to the underbody and the exhaust system.
