Rear Safety Belts

REMOVAL






1. Remove inserts from rear seat center console.
2. Remove rear seat center console fasteners and remove console.






3. Remove rear seat cushion by pushing rearward and upward at lower front retainer locations to disengage seat cushion retainer.
4. Push center seat belt buckles through the seat cushion.






5. Lower rear seat back and lift the rear compartment carpet.
6. Using a large flat blade screwdriver, gently pry outer seat back "easy load" bracket outboard, just enough for the seat back pin to disengage from "easy load" bracket.
7. Lift seat back up and remove from vehicle.






8. Remove push pins rivets from rear window trim panel.






9. Unclip the rear fasteners of the front lower hinge garnish molding to partially loosen the molding at the quarter trim panel location.






10. Slide the belt assembly out of the trim panel.






11. Remove fasteners that attach seat belt slide bar and move slide bar.






12. Remove seat belt retractor access door.
13. Remove push pin.






14. Remove seat belt unit and presenter arm.






15. Disengage the rear clips of the windshield garnish molding to allow the removal of the quarter window trim garnish molding.






16. Remove coathook by inserting a small screwdriver blade between the outside of the hook and the center section. Apply pressure to force center section outward.
17. Remove the quarter window trim garnish molding by disengaging the clips.
18. Pull at the top of quarter trim panel to disengage one push pin from spaceframe.






19. Disengage one clip attaching quarter trim panel, then lift the panel to disengage two hooks from quarter panel inner lower front assembly.
20. Remove quarter panel trim.
21. Remove shoulder belt lower anchor bolt.






22. Remove small bolt at front of retractor. Slide retractor toward the rear of the vehicle and lift retractor up to remove, leaving large nut tightened to stud on package shelf.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: APPLY LOCTITE(R) 242 THREADLOCKER OR EQUIVALENT ON ALL RESTRAINT FASTENERS BEFORE INSTALLING THEM.

1. Install retractor onto top stud.






2. Install small bolt to retractor.

Torque: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)

CAUTION: OBSERVE ORIENTATION OF THE SHOULDER HARNESS BELT TO THE REAR COMPARTMENT PAN AS SHOWN IN ILLUSTRATION. INCORRECT ORIENTATION MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

3. Install shoulder belt lower anchor bolt.

Torque: 50 N.m (37 in-lbs)

4. Route shoulder belt through slot in quarter panel trim.






5. Install quarter panel trim.
6. Snap the rear fasteners of the front lower hinge garnish molding.
7. Install push pin fasteners to attach the rear window finish panel and the quarter trim panel to spaceframe.






8. Install the quarter window trim garnish molding.
9. Snap in the rear clips of the windshield garnish molding.
10. Install coathook.






11. Install the front seat belt retractor.

Torque: 50 N.m (37 in-lbs)

12. Install the front seat belt unit and presenter arm assembly.
13. Install the rear seat routing rear seat belt/buckle units through slots in seat cushion.
14. Lock seat into position by aligning retaining rod of seat frame wire with rear compartment retainer.
15. Push down and rearward on cushion to secure wire into the lower front retainers.
16. Pull up on cushion to verify that it is secure. Ensure belts are not twisted.






17. Guide rear seat back assembly onto center pivot pin.
18. Align the outer pivot pin with lead in ramp on the "easy load" bracket.
19. Push downward on the seat back to engage pin into position.
20. Engage cargo floor carpet with seat back.
