REMOVALCAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE OPPOSITE END OF THE VEHICLE THAT COMPONENTS WILL BE REMOVED FROM.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist with steering in unlocked position.
2. Remove left wheel and tire.
3. Remove and discard left lower control arm ball stud cotter pin.
NOTICE: Care must be taken to prevent damage to the speed sensor ring on ABS vehicles. Minor surface damage to the speed sensor ring can result in ABS system malfunctions.
NOTICE: Do not attempt to separate the joint using a wedge-type tool because the seal may be damaged.
4. Loosen (do not remove) left lower control arm ball stud castle nut, until the top of the castle nut is level with the top of the ball stud.
5. For left side of vehicle, use SA9132S (or equivalent) to separate lower control arm from knuckle.
6. For left side of vehicle, remove lower control arm ball stud castle nut.
IMPORTANT: Remove front section of splash shield first, then rear.
7. Remove left side splash shield.
a. Remove two push pins.
IMPORTANT: If molded-in fasteners are damaged or broken, drill out with a 5/16 inch bit and replace with a push pin.
b. Remove lower shield to cradle molded-in fasteners at cradle by gently prying at three fastener locations.
8. For left side of vehicle, remove lower control arm-to-cradle fastener.
IMPORTANT: The road wheel should be turned to the left to allow access to the nut.
9. For right side of vehicle, remove front stabilizer shaft-to-lower control arm nut and washer.
IMPORTANT: If front stabilizer-to-cradle strut nut becomes damaged due to corrosion, cross-threading, etc., or is broken loose from the cradle, it can be replaced using the following procedure:
10. Remove front stabilizer shaft-to-cradle mounting bracket fasteners.
- If the nut is broken loose from the cradle and the bolt is locked in the nut, proceed to steps c, d, and e.
- If nut is not broken loose from cradle, but is damaged and the bolt is removed:
a. Distort the threads of the service bolt sufficiently to cause the bolt to lock into the nut.
b. Install bolt, and using an air impact wrench, continue turning bolt until nut is broken loose from cradle.
c. Cut off bolt head.
d. Retrieve bolt shank and nut from cradle cavity.
e. Install new bolt (PN 21010823) and repair nut (PN 21006321).
11. Remove front stabilizer shaft (with left control arm) from vehicle.
12. Remove left control arm-to-front stabilizer shaft nut and washer from front stabilizer shaft.
13. Remove left control arm from front stabilizer shaft.
INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Front stabilizer shaft can be installed upside down. All front stabilizer shafts are marked with paint on the right hand side. Make sure this paint mark end is installed into the right control arm. If paint mark is not visible, make sure front stabilizer shaft turns upward between attachment brackets.

IMPORTANT: Do not tighten fasteners at this time.
1. With front stabilizer shaft off of vehicle, position left control arm onto front stabilizer shaft with washer and nut.
NOTICE: Front stabilizer shaft-to-cradle bushings must be positioned in attachment brackets with their installation slits facing toward the front of the vehicle.
2. Install front stabilizer shaft-to-cradle bushings onto front stabilizer shaft.
3. Position right end of front stabilizer shaft into right control arm (on vehicle).
IMPORTANT: Do not install fasteners at this time.
4. Position left control arm into cradle.
NOTICE: New bolts or Loctite 242 (12345382) Medium Strength Threadlocker (or equivalent), must be installed.
5. Install front stabilizer shaft attachment brackets to cradle with fasteners and tighten.
Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.)
6. Tighten front stabilizer shaft-to-cradle fasteners a second time.
Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.)
7. Install left road wheel onto vehicle.
IMPORTANT: Tighten wheel fasteners, but do not torque at this time.
8. With the aid of an assistant push bottom of left road wheel into vehicle. This will the left control arm into a position that will allow the control arm to cradle fastener to be installed.
9. Install left lower control arm-to-cradle fastener.
Bolt:
Torque: 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)
Nut:
Torque: 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Use new nut; torque retention of old nut may not be sufficient.
10. Install right control arm-to-front stabilizer shaft nut and washer and tighten to specification.
Torque: 144 Nm (106 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Use new nut; torque retention of old nut may not be sufficient.
IMPORTANT: Lower control arm ball stud threads should be thoroughly cleaned and lubricated before tightening nut.
11. Tighten control arm-to-front stabilizer shaft nut to specification.
Torque: 144 Nm (106 ft. lbs.)
IMPORTANT: If necessary to rotate castle nut to orient to hole in the stud, always tighten the nut; never loosen it.
12. For left side of vehicle, connect ball stud to steering knuckle with fastener.
Torque: 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
13. Install new cotter pin.
IMPORTANT: Install rear section of splash shield first, then front
14. Install left side splash shield.
15. Install tabs in body cut-out.
IMPORTANT: Make sure splash shield flaps are tucked in at body locations.
16. Align molded-in shield fasteners with holes in cradle. Push straight in to install.
17. Install push pins.
NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel nuts to loosen in service.
18. Position wheel onto hub.
19. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening pattern to make sure torque is correct.
Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.)
20. Lower vehicle from hoist.
21. Perform vehicle wheel alignment (refer to "Wheel Alignment").
