Rear
REMOVALCAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE OPPOSITE END OF THE VEHICLE THAT COMPONENTS WILL BE REMOVED FROM.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove both rear road wheels.
IMPORTANT: Plug brake pipe to avoid excessive brake fluid loss or contamination.
3. Place an approved container under the left rear brake pipe, at the brake pipe/brake hose junction and disconnect left brake pipe from brake hose.
4. Remove right and left rear stabilizer shaft link-to-bracket fasteners.
5. Remove rear stabilizer shaft to crossmember fasteners.
6. Loosen lateral link to left knuckle fastener.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove fastener at this time.
7. Remove trailing arm-to-left knuckle nut.
8. Remove two left trailing arm-to-body fasteners.
9. Slide left trailing arm out of knuckle.
10. Remove left lateral link-to-knuckle fastener. Swing left lateral links downward, away from knuckle.
NOTICE: Attempting to remove rear stabilizer shaft without loosening brake pipes from crossmember could result in a bent brake pipe. Note location and position of brake pipes prior to loosening and be sure to install pipes to same position.
11. Unfasten crossbody brake pipe from crossmember by unsnapping brake pipe fasteners from crossmember.
12. Remove rear stabilizer shaft.
INSTALLATION
1. Install rear stabilizer shaft into crossmember and secure with fasteners.
Torque: 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.)
2. Install lateral link onto knuckle with fasteners.
IMPORTANT: Do not torque fasteners at this time.
3. Place trailing arm (with bushings) into knuckle and install fastener nut, but do not torque fastener at this time.
4. Install trailing arm into body and secure with fasteners.
Torque: 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.)
5. Torque trailing arm-to-knuckle fastener nut.
Torque: 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.)
6. Torque lateral link-to-knuckle fasteners.
Torque: 165 Nm (122 ft. lbs.)
7. Connect left brake pipe to brake hose. Tighten to specification.
Torque: 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.)
8. Fasten crossbody brake pipe to crossmember by snapping brake pipe fasteners onto crossmember.
9. Install rear stabilizer shaft links to brackets with fasteners.
Torque: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
10. Bleed brakes. (Refer to "Brake Bleed" procedure in Brakes and Traction Control.)
NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel nuts to loosen in service.
11. Position wheel onto hub.
12. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening pattern to make sure torque is correct.
Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.)
13. Lower vehicle from hoist.
