Assembly
IMPORTANT: Be sure all parts are clean and free of lint and dirt. Valve body should be assembled in a clean area.1. Install valves, new gaskets, and ball check valves according to the figures.
2. Install two halves of valve body and install the one bolt holding the two halves together (3).
IMPORTANT: The dowel bolts must be placed in the holes shown to align the upper valve body to the lower valve body. The corresponding illustration depicts the following:
(1) Valve body-to-case dowel bolts
(2) Upper to lower valve body dowel bolts
(3) Bolt holding upper and lower valve body
3. Lube solenoid O-rings.
4. Install solenoids with a twisting motion.
5. Install detent arm and bolt.
- Torque: 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.)
6. Check connector plate terminals with a #43 (2.25 mm) drill bit. There should be a slight drag on the shank. If there is no drag replace the connector plate.
7. Align the solenoid valve pins to the connector plate.
8. Install the connector plate.
9. Install the solenoid cover.
10. Install the solenoid cover bolts and finger tighten. Refer to the valve body bolt chart listed after "Valve body Installation" procedure for bolt lengths. For reference, the solenoids are identified below:
(1) Pressure Control Solenoid Shift Solenoid
(2) TCC Solenoid
(3) Shift Solenoid 4
(5) Shift Solenoid 3
11. Clean and lubricate fasteners with Saturn Transaxle Fluid. Wipe off excess fluid and install.
12. Ensure dowel bolts are placed in holes shown to align upper valve body to lower valve body.
NOTICE: Over-torquing bolts can cause valves to bind.
13. Torque solenoid cover bolts using torque sequence shown in illustration.
- Torque: 11 Nm (10 ft. lbs.)
