Clutch Pedal Assembly: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage VIN plate when removing or replacing upper trim.





1. Remove screws located under upper trim panel on passenger's side of vehicle.
2. Disengage clips at locations by grasping edges of upper trim panel and lifting up.
3. Disengage velcro pads from attachments at rear of upper trim panel by reaching under panel and lifting straight up.
4. Raise upper trim panel enough to clear VIN plate.





5. Remove clutch pushrod retainer and remove pushrod from clutch pedal.
6. If replacing clutch pedal assembly:
a. Remove clutch pedal pivot shaft nut.
b. Remove clutch pedal assembly.
7. If replacing pivot bushings:
a. Remove clutch pedal pivot shaft retainer.
b. Remove clutch pedal.
c. Remove clutch pedal bushings.

INSTALLATION
1. If replacing pivot bushings:
a. Install new bushings.
b. Lubricate inside diameter of bushings.
c. Install clutch pedal onto pivot and install retainer.
2. If replacing clutch pedal assembly:
a. Install pedal assembly.
b. Install pivot shaft nut and tighten.
- Torque: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
3. Grease clutch pedal pushrod pin and install pushrod onto pedal.
4. Install pushrod retainer.





5. Install upper trim panel insulator.

IMPORTANT: Be sure upper trim panel seal is correctly seated on forward edge before installing upper trim panel.

IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage VIN plate when removing or replacing upper trim panel.

6. Ensure that velcro pads on upper trim panel are correctly inserted.
7. Position upper trim panel on retainer assembly.
8. Align tabs on sides of upper trim panel with openings in windshield garnish molding.
9. Align clips and clip location.
10. Firmly snap in clips at clip locations.
11. Install screws on underside of upper trim panel on passenger's side of vehicle.
- Torque: 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.)
