Rear Suspension Shock Absorber




Shock Absorber Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Support the rear axle with a jackstand (1).
4. In the vehicles with CDC chassis, disconnect the proportional valve wiring harness plug.
5. Remove the upper and lower shock bolts.
6. Remove the shock (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the shock absorber to the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the upper shock bolt.

Tighten to 90 Nm (67 lb ft).

3. Install the lower shock bolt.

Tighten to 130 Nm (96 lb ft).

4. Remove the jackstand.
5. In the vehicles with CDC chassis, connect the proportional valve wiring harness plug.
6. Install the wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
7. Lower the vehicle.
