Front Passenger Airbag Replacement
Front Passenger Airbag Assy:
REPLACEMENT
HINT: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
3. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
4. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR
a. Disconnect the connectors from the front passenger air-bag assembly.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER W/FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the clip.
b. Disconnect the connectors from the front passenger air-bag assembly.
7. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Release the front side airbag door from the hook by slightly deflecting it and roll the front passenger airbag assembly rearward.
c. Release the rear side airbag door from the other hook and remove the front passenger airbag assembly.
8. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
9. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
10. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
a. Install the clip.
b. Connect the 2 connectors to the front passenger airbag assembly.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
11. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER W/FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
12. CONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR
a. Connect the connectors to the front passenger airbag assembly.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
13. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the terminal is reconnected.
- Power window control system
- Sliding roof system
14. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
