Shift Solenoid: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2. Drain engine coolant and A/T fluid.
3. Remove A/T fluid cooler pipe from A/T with hose connected.
4. Remove radiator with cooling fan, fan shroud, A/T fluid cooler hoses and A/T fluid pipe.
5. Remove A/T side cover.
6. Disconnect solenoid couplers.
7. Remove solenoid valves.
NOTE:
^ Don't remove throttle pressure control solenoid valve.
^ Remove TCC solenoid valve, shift solenoid valve No.2 and shift solenoid valve No.1 in that order.
INSPECTION
Resistance Check
- Shift solenoid No.1 and No.2 and TCC solenoid Check resistance between terminal and solenoid body.
Standard resistance: 11 - 15 ohm
- Throttle pressure control solenoid Check resistance between each terminals.
Standard resistance: 3.3 - 3.7 ohm
Operation Check (Shift solenoid valves No.1 and No.2.)
1. Apply oiler to solenoid valve and give compression by hands and then check to be sure that transmission fluid from oiler does not come out of holes in solenoid valve when battery voltage is not conducted.
2. Under the same conditions as above, conduct battery voltage and then make sure that fluid comes out with vigor. If check result is not as described, replace shift solenoid valve.
TCC Solenoid Valve
1. Apply oiler to solenoid valve and give compression by hands and then check to be sure that transmission fluid -from oiler does not come out of holes in solenoid valve when battery voltage is conducted.
2. Under the same conditions as above, release battery voltage and then make sure that fluid comes out with vigor. if check result is not as described, replace shift solenoid valve.
INSTALLATION
1. Install shift solenoid No.1, shift solenoid No.2 and TCC solenoid in that order.
Tightening Torque (a): 6.8 Nm (58.8 inch lbs.)
2. Connect solenoid couplers.
3. Clean mating surface of A/T side cover and A/T case.
4. Apply sealant to mating surface of A/T side cover and A/T case.
"A": 99000-31160 (SUZUKI BOND NO.1216), or equivalent.
5. Install A/T side cover.
NOTE: Don't reuse bolts A.
6. Install radiator with cooling fan, fan shroud, A/T fluid cooler hoses and pipe.
Tightening Torque
(a): 35 Nm (25.5 ft. lbs.)
(b): 25 Nm (18.0 ft. lbs.)
NOTE: Make sure to use new gaskets for A/T fluid pipe union bolts.
7. Refill A/T fluid.
8. Refill engine coolant.
9. Verify that there is no engine coolant leakage or A/T fluid leakage.
