No.1 (F1)

DISASSEMBLY





1. Remove following parts by removing snap ring.
- Overdrive clutch hub
- Planetary gear assembly
- Two thrust bearing races





2. Pull out thrust needle roller bearing.
Reference value for bearing.
Outside diameter: Approximately 83.2 mm (3.28 inch)
Inside diameter: Approximately 68.3 mm (2.69 inch)
Thickness: Approximately 2.6 mm (0.10 inch)





3. Remove No. 1 (F1) one-way clutch by removing snap ring.





4. Remove thrust washer.
Reference value for washer
Outside diameter: Approximately 85.3 mm (3.36 inch)
Inside diameter: Approximately 70.0 mm (2.76 inch)
Thickness: Approximately 2.6 mm (0.10 inch)





5. Remove thrust bearing race.
Reference value for race
Outside diameter: Approximately 80.2 mm (3.16 inch)
Inside diameter: Approximately 68.3 mm (2.69 inch)
Thickness: Approximately 0.8 mm (0.03 inch)





6. Remove thrust needle roller bearing.
Reference value for bearing
Outside diameter: Approximately 83.2 mm (3.28 inch)
Inside diameter: Approximately 64.9 mm (2.56 inch)
Thickness: Approximately 2.7 mm (0.11 inch)

7. Remove O-ring.

NOTE: Never reuse O-ring after removal.





8. Remove front planetary ring gear flange by removing snap ring.





9. Remove O-ring.

NOTE: Never reuse O-ring after removal.





INSPECTION
Visually check following parts for scratches or discoloration.
- Outer surface of one-way clutch inner race.
- Outer surface of one-way clutch roller.
- Inner surface of front planetary ring gear subassembly.

ASSEMBLY
1. Apply A/T fluid to new O-ring.





2. Install O-ring.





3. Install front planetary ring gear flange with snap ring.
4. Coat new O-ring with A/T fluid.





5. Install new O-ring.
6. Install thrust needle roller bearing.





7. Apply A/T fluid to thrust bearing race and install it.





8. Apply A/T fluid to thrust washer and install it.





9. Set one-way clutch and one-way clutch inner race.

NOTE:
^ Check to make sure that (A) section (shorter than rear) of inner race faces toward front side.
^ Check to make sure that thinner section (B) of one way clutch faces toward rear side.





10. Install No.1 (F1) one-way clutch with snap ring.





11. Install thrust needle roller bearing.





12. Coat two thrust bearing races with A/T fluid.
13. Install planetary gear assembly and overdrive clutch hub with snap ring.
14. Install two thrust bearing races.
15. Check operation of one-way clutch.
