Air Bag System

Repair And Inspection Required After Accident

CAUTION:
- All air bag system components and their mounting points, including electrical harness, must be inspected after an accident. If any component is damaged or deformed, it must be replaced even if air bag system has not activated.
- Never use air bag system parts from another vehicle.
- Do not attempt to repair parts below. If any defect is found for these parts, replace it.
- Driver / Passenger air bag (inflator) modules
- Driver / Passenger side air bag (inflator) modules
- Driver / Passenger rear side air bag (inflator) module
- Driver / Passenger side curtain air bag (inflator) modules
- Driver / Passenger seat belt pretensioners
- Driver / Passenger lap pretensioners
- Driver / Passenger forward impact - sensors
- Driver / Passenger side impact sensors
- Driver / Passenger side rear impact sensor
- SDM
- Contact coil
- Passenger seat cushion including OCM with sensor mat
- Air bag wire harnesses (in main harness, instrument panel harness and floor harness), passenger air bag harness and seat harness.
- Driver / Passenger seat belt buckle sensors

- Proper operation of sensors and air bag system requires that any repairs to vehicle structure return it to its original production configuration.
- Never use SDM which has detected a condition that meets any of deployment conditions.
Refer to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check when checking SDM.
