Brake Pedal Assembly Removal and Installation

Brake Pedal Assembly Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
Do not loosen nut of cylinder push rod clevis.


Removal
1) Remove steering column.
2) Remove Remove instrument panel.
3) Disconnect brake light switch connector.
4) Remove battery.
5) For M/T model, disconnect clutch master cylinder.
6) For CVT model, remove brake pedal bracket nut (1) located in engine compartment.





7) Remove clip (2) and clevis pin (3) from cylinder push rod clevis (1).





8) Remove brake pedal bracket bolts (1) and brake booster nuts (2).








9) Remove brake booster from dash panel.
10) Remove accelerator pedal bracket.
11) Remove brake pedal and clutch pedal assembly or brake pedal assembly.
M/T model: Brake pedal and clutch pedal assembly
CVT model: Brake pedal assembly

Installation
Reference: Brake Booster Removal and Installation
1) Install brake pedal and clutch pedal assembly or brake pedal assembly, and install brake booster.
M/T model: Brake pedal and clutch pedal assembly
CVT model: Brake pedal assembly
2) Tighten brake pedal bracket bolts (1) and brake booster nuts (2) to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Brake pedal bracket bolt (a): 13 Nm (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 lbf-ft)
Brake booster nut* (b): 13 Nm (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 lbf-ft)








3) For CVT model, tighten brake pedal bracket nut (1) to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Brake pedal bracket nut* (c): 13 Nm (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 lbf-ft)





4) Install accelerator pedal bracket.
5) Insert clevis pin (3) into hole in pedal and push rod clevis (1) from right side. Then install clip (2).





6) For M/T model, connect clutch master cylinder.
7) Install battery.
8) Insert steering column.
9) Install instrument panel.
10) Bleed air from brake system.
11) Check brake pedal free height and play.

12) Adjust brake light switch.
13) Connect brake light switch connector.
14) Check installed part for fluid leakage and make sure that brake system operates properly.
