Idler Pulley: Service and Repair

Tensioner And Idler Pulley Removal And Installation

Removal
1. Remove accessory drive belt.
2. Remove idler pulley cover (1).
3. Remove nuts, idler pulley shield (2) and idler pulley(s) (3).
4. Drain coolant.
5. Remove water pump.
6. Remove tensioner (4).

Installation
Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.
- Tighten tensioner bolts and idler pulley nuts to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Tensioner bolt (a): 25 N.m (2.5 kg-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)
Idler pulley nut (b): 40 N.m (4.1 kg-m, 29.5 lbf-ft)
