Passenger Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation
Passenger Air Bag (inflator) Module Removal And InstallationWARNING:
- When handling an air bag (inflator) module, be sure to read Precautions for Handling and Storage of Air Bag System Components and observe each instruction. Failure to follow them could cause damage to air bag (inflator) module or result in personal injury.
- Never insert foreign matter such as flat-end screwdriver between passenger air bag (inflator) module connector and "Q101" connector as static electricity may cause accidental deployment.
NOTE: Refer to Repair and Inspection Required after Accident before replacing a deployed air bag.
Removal
1. Disable air bag system.
2. Remove instrument panel.
3. Disconnect passenger air bag (inflator) module connector (2) as show in figure.
a. Release lock (1).
b. Disconnect connector with lock released.
4. Remove passenger air bag (inflator) module screws (3) and passenger air bag (inflator) module bolts (4), and remove passenger air bag (inflator) module (5).
Installation
Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.
- Lock connector for air bag (inflator) module securely.
- Fit claw (2) of passenger air bag (inflator) module (1) to instrument panel securely.
- Tighten passenger air bag (inflator) module bolts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Passenger air bag (inflator) module bolt (a): 23 N.m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 lbf-ft)
- Enable air bag system.
