Front Seat Belt InspectionWARNING:
- Be sure to read Precautions on Service and Diagnosis of Seat Belt, before starting to work and observe every precaution during work. Neglecting them may result in personal injury or inactivation of the seat belt pretensioner when necessary.
- Never measure resistance of pretensioner or disassemble it. Otherwise, personal injury may result.
- When placing a live seat belt pretensioner on a workbench or other surface, do not lay it with its exhaust hole side (1) facing down. Never place anything above the exhaust hole nor stack seat belt pretensioners.
Otherwise, personal injury may result.
CAUTION:
- Never attempt to disassemble the seat belt pretensioner (retractor). If any abnormality is found, replace it with new one as an assembly.
- Handle seat belt pretensioner so as not to drop it or give impact carefully. If it was dropped, replace with a new one even if there is no abnormal appearance. Also replace with a new one if any abnormality is found.
Seat belts and attaching parts can affect the vital components and systems of vehicle.
Therefore, they should be inspected carefully and replaced with genuine parts only.
Seat Belt
- Seat belt webbing or strap should be free from damage.
Retractor (with Seat Belt Pretensioner)
- Let the seat belt retract fully to confirm its easy retraction.
- Retractor should lock webbing when pulled quickly.
- Retractor should lock its webbing when tilted forward and backward, and leftward and rightward.
1. Replace seat belt assembly with new one if any of the following symptom is found.
- Pretensioner has activated.
- There is a crack in seat belt pretensioner (retractor).
- Seat belt pretensioner (retractor) is damaged or a strong impact (e.g. dropping) was applied to it.
Lap Pretensioner
Replace lap pretensioner with new one if any of the following symptom is found.
- Pretensioner has activated.
- There is a crack in lap pretensioner.
- Lap pretensioner is damaged or a strong impact (e.g. dropping) was applied to it.
Anchor Bolt
- Anchor bolts should be tightened to specified torque.
Belt Latch
- It should be securely locked when tongue plate (2) is latched.
- Lock should be released by pressing release button (3) when tongue plate (2) is latched to buckle (1).
Seat Belt Switch (Driver's Seat)
Disconnect seat harness connector (1) and inspect connection between terminals "1" and "2".
