Seat Belt Systems: Service Precautions
Precautions On Service And Diagnosis Of Seat BeltWARNING: If replacing seat belt is necessary, replace buckle and seat belt together. This is essential for to ensure correct locking of tongue plate in buckle. For this reason, SUZUKI will supply spare buckle and seat belt only as a set.
CAUTION: Do not reuse the seat belt pretensioner (retractor) and lap pretensioner that have activated. Replace them with new seat belt and buckle together as a set. For checking procedure of the activation, refer to Repair and Inspection Required after Accident.
Before servicing or replacing seat belts, refer to the following precautionary items.
- Be sure to check if tongue plate and buckle are normal.
- Keep sharp edges and damaging objects away from belt webbing.
- Never bend or damage belt buckle and tongue plate.
- Do not bleach or dye belt webbing. (Use only mild soap and lukewarm water to clean it.)
- When installing a seat belt anchor bolt, first tighten it by hand to prevent cross-threading and then tighten to the specified torque.
- Do not attempt any repair on pretensioner or seat belt. If any fault is found, replace the seat belt as an assembly.
- Keep belts dry and clean at all times.
- Any defective part must be replaced with a new one.
- Replace belts whose webbing is cut or damaged.
- Do not put anything into trim panel opening which seat belt webbing passes through.
