Precautions for Steering General DiagnosisSince the problems in steering may involve several systems, all such possibilities should be fully considered when diagnosing a complaint. To avoid being misled by the unclear symptom, always perform the road test first. Proceed with the following preliminary inspection and correct defects if any.
1) Inspect tires for proper pressure and uneven wear.
2) Hoist vehicle and inspect steering system for loose or damaged parts.
3) Spin front wheels. Inspect for out-of-round tires, out-of-balance tires, bent rims, loose and/or rough wheel bearings.
