Front Strut Assembly Disassembly and ReassemblyReference: Front Strut Assembly Removal and Installation
WARNING:
Pay attention to the following points when compressing coil spring, or you may get injured.
^ Attach spring compressor securely to coil spring.
^ Do not use impact wrench to compress coil spring.
^ When using a commercially available spring compressor, follow the operation procedure described in the instruction manual supplied with that spring compressor.
Disassembly
1) Attach special tool to coil spring as shown. Turn special tool bolts alternately until coil spring tension does not work any more. Rotate the strut assembly around its axis to confirm that the assembly is free from coil spring tension.
Special Tool
(A): 09943-25010
2) While keeping coil spring compressed with special tool, remove strut support rod nut with special tools as shown.
Special Tool
(A): 09900-00411
(B): 09900-00414
(C): 09941-56510
3) Disassemble front strut assembly components in the indicated order.
Reassembly
1) Compress coil spring with special tool until total length becomes about 316 mm (12.4 in.) as shown.
Length
"a": 316 mm (12.4 in.)
Special Tool
(A): 09943-25010
2) Install compressed coil spring to strut assembly while fitting coil spring end (2) in spring lower seat (1) as shown.
NOTE:
Coil spring end must not interfere with step in spring lower seat.
3) Install front strut assembly components in the indicated order.
4) Hold stud assembly using special tool and tighten strut support rod nut (1) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Strut support rod nut (a): 73 Nm (7.4 kg-m, 54.0 lbf-ft)
Special Tool
(A): 09900-00411
(B): 09900-00414
