Gear Shift Control Lever and Cable Removal and Installation

Removal

WARNING:
To avoid getting burned, do not work on exhaust system when it is hot. Exhaust system must be completely cool before beginning any service on it.


1) Remove air cleaner assembly.
2) Remove battery and battery tray.
3) Remove battery bracket.
4) Remove center console box.
5) Disconnect cable ends (5) from pivot (6) of gear shift control lever assembly.
6) Disconnect gear shift and gear select control cables (1) from gear shift control lever assembly (2) while pulling up quick joint (4).
7) Remove gear shift control lever assembly nuts (3) and remove gear shift control lever assembly from floor panel.
8) Remove clips of gear shift and gear select control cable, and then disconnect the cables from transaxle.
9) Remove cable grommet bolts and cable clamp nut, and then remove gear shift and select control cables from floor panel.





Installation
Reverse removal procedure noting the following points:
^ Tighten each bolt and nut to specified torque.
^ Adjust gear select control cable.
