Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair




Parking Brake Lever Removal and Installation

NOTE:

If an impact wrench or the like is used when loosing and tightening the bolt of the parking brake lever, the yaw rate / G sensor near the parking brake lever may be damaged due to the impact caused by the tool.

Do not use an impact wrench or the like for the removal and installation of the parking brake lever bolt.

NOTE:

Before starting the work, place gear shift lever in "1st" (M/T model) or selector lever in "P" range (CVT model), and block drive wheels.

Removal

1) Remove console box. Center Console Box Removal and Installation
2) Block vehicle wheels and release parking brake lever.
3) Disconnect parking brake switch connector (2) from parking brake switch.
4) Loosen parking brake cable adjusting nut (3).
5) Remove parking brake lever bolts (4) and remove parking brake lever assembly (1) with equalizer (5) from vehicle.






Installation

1) Tighten parking brake lever bolts (1) to specified torque in sequence from "1" to "3".

Tightening torque
Parking brake lever bolt (a): 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)

2) Connect parking brake cables (2) to equalizer and adjust parking brake cable. Adjustments





3) Make sure that brake system operates properly.
