Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Testing and Inspection
EVAP Canister On-Vehicle Inspection
WARNING:
If you suck at the nozzle on the EVAP canister by mistake, you will inhale harmful fuel vapor that may be present inside the canister.
Never suck at any of the nozzles on the EVAP canister.
1) Check outside of EVAP canister visually.
2) Disconnect suction pipe (1) from EVAP leak check module. Service and Repair
3) Disconnect filler pipe (2) and purge pipe (3) from EVAP canister.
Service and Repair
4) Check EVAP canister and EVAP leak check module as assembly for air leaks according to the following procedure.
a) Plug purge port (1) and air port (2) using rubber plug.
b) Install hose (3) and special tool (A) to filler pipe (4).
Special Tool
(A): 09917-47011
c) Use special tool to apply specified vacuum pressure to EVAP canister and EVAP leak check module as assembly for one minute.

20 kPa (0.2 kgf/cm2, 2.90 psi, 0.2 bar)
If any abnormality is found, replace EVAP canister and EVAP leak check module as assembly. Service and Repair
5) Blow compressed air (2.0 kPa (0.02 kgf/cm2, 0.29 psi, 0.02 bar)) into filler port (1). Air should flow with no resistance through purge port (2) and air port (3).
If any abnormality is found, replace EVAP canister and EVAP leak check module as assembly. Service and Repair
