Rear Brake Hose and Pipe Removal and Installation

Rear Brake Hose and Pipe Components

NOTE:

Brake fluid is extremely damaging to painted surfaces.

If brake fluid contacts a painted surface, immediately wipe it off and flush the surface thoroughly with water.

Removal

1) Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheel referring to Removal and Replacement Wheel (with Tire) Removal and Installation.
2) Clean dirt and foreign material from both flexible hose end and pipe end fittings.
3) Drain brake fluid in reservoir.
4) Remove fuel tank from vehicle referring to Fuel Tank Removal and Installation Fuel Tank Removal and Installation.
5) Remove brake flexible hose or pipe.

Installation

Brake Hose and Pipe Inspection

Reverse brake flexible hose and/or brake pipe removal procedure, noting the following.

- Install clamps and tighten nuts referring to Rear Brake Hose and Pipe Components Rear Brake Hose and Pipe Components.
- Fill and maintain brake fluid level in reservoir.
- Bleed air from brake system. Refer to Service and Repair Air Bleeding of Brake System.
- Perform brake test and check each installed part for fluid leakage.
- Check each installed part for fuel leakage referring to Fuel Leakage Check Procedure Fuel Leakage Check Procedure.
- When installing hose, make sure that it has no twist or kink.
