Air Injection Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve and remove it from the vehicle.
2. Connect the VSV terminals to battery current. Fig. 23
3. Blow into pipe E and check that air flows out of pipe G.
4. Disconnect the battery.
5. Blow into pipe E and check that the air comes out of the air filter. Fig. 24

6. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the VSV terminals and the VSV body. Fig. 25
7. Check the resistance between the terminals of the VSV. Fig. 26
8. The resistance should be 30 - 50 Ohms at 68° F.
9. If not as specified, replace the VSV.
10. Reinstall the VSV on the engine.
