Fig. 20 Testing Air Suction System:
1. Inspect hoses and tubes for cracks, kinks, damage or loose connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
2. Disconnect air suction hose from air cleaner.
3. With coolant temperature below 86° F, ensure that a "gurgling" noise is heard at the air suction hose with the engine at idle. Fig. 20
4. Operate engine until coolant temperature is above 104° F and ensure "gurgling" noise is not heard at air suction hose with engine at idle.
5. Race engine and quickly close the throttle valve. Check that the "gurgling" noise stops momentarily.
6. If a problem is found, test each system component.
