Throttle Body: Service and Repair
REMOVAL:1. Remove the intake air connector and drain the engine coolant from the radiator.
2. On A/T models, disconnect throttle cable from throttle linkage.
3. Disconnect accelerator cable and bracket.
4. Disconnect the following hoses:
Hoses To Be Removed From The Throttle Body:
a. A/C idle up hose (on A/C equipped vehicles)
b. PCV hose
c. No.2 and No.3 water bypass hoses
d. Label and disconnect the emission control hoses
5. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector.
6. Remove the three mount bolts and one mount nut, and remove the throttle body and gasket.
Removing The Throttle Body Assembly:
INSTALLATION:
1. Install a new gasket between the throttle body and the intake plenum.
2. Install the throttle body using the three mounting bolts and one mounting nut. Torque the bolts and nut evenly to 14 ft.lbs. (19 N-m).
3. Reconnect the hoses that were disconnected in step 4 of the removal procedure.
4. Connect throttle position sensor connector.
5. On A/T models attach the throttle cable.
6. Connect vacuum and water hoses.
7. Connect accelerator cable and adjust. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES for proper procedure.
8. Install air intake connector.
9. Fill radiator with coolant.
10. Start engine and check for vacuum leaks.
