TITLE: PROPELLER SHAFT HIGH PITCH NOISE
Some vehicles may exhibit a whistle type noise while driving in any of the forward gears at speeds below 50 mph. The propeller shaft has been identified as the probable source of the whistle noise.
To diagnose and identify if the propeller shaft is the source of the whistle noise, (for testing) install two rubber exhaust (donuts) hangers (p/n 90301-34207) approximately 18 inches from each end of the shaft. If, after installing the rubber exhaust hangers, the speed range changes or level of the whistle noise is reduced the propeller shaft is the source of the whistle noise (see illustration below).
Correction: Replace the propeller shaft with the new paper lined propeller shaft (see illustration below). The application chart and part number information is on page 2.
