Oil Pump Service/Inspection

1. Remove oil pump cover, drive gear and driven gear, Fig. 135.
2. Remove oil seal and relief valve subassembly.
3. Check contact surfaces of oil seal and drive gear for damage and wear.

4. Measure clearance between drive gear and driven gear crescents, Fig. 136. If clearance is greater than .0138 inch (.35 mm), replace rotor set.

5. Measure side clearance between rotor and cover, Fig. 137. If clearance exceeds .0039 inch (.10 mm), replace rotor or pump body as necessary.

6. Measure body clearance between driven rotor and pump body, Fig. 138. If clearance is greater than .0079 inch (.20 mm), replace rotor or pump body as necessary.
