Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove the Fuel Pressure Control Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) from the rear, RH side of the engine compartment.
2. Using an Ohmmeter, measure the resistance across the terminals of the VSV.

Checking Fuel Pressure Control VSV For Open Circuit:

Resistance: 33 - 39 Ohms

3. If not as specified, replace the VSV.
4. Using an Ohmmeter, check that NO continuity exists between the terminals and body of the VSV.

Checking Fuel Pressure Control VSV For Short Circuit:

5. If continuity exists, replace the VSV.
6. Blow through pipe E and ensure that air flows through pipe G.

Testing Fuel Pressure Control VSV - Current Removed:

7. Apply battery current to the VSV terminals and check that air does NOT flow through pipe G, but through the air filter on the VSV.

Testing Fuel Pressure Control VSV - Current Applied:

8. If a problem is found, replace the VSV.
9. Reinstall the VSV on the engine.
